DRY NEEDLING

AT TARA NORTHEY OSTEOPATHY & PILATES

SOUTHFIELDS | WIMBLEDON PARK

The practice of ‘dry needling’ involves inserting an acupuncture needle into a trigger point and is typically used to treat the pain associated with injuries.

A trigger point is a tender spot in a tight band of muscle which causes pain when pressed or squeezed. There are numerous muscles which commonly have pain producing trigger points.

A trigger point can be treated quickly and effectively through dry needling. The needle is inserted to aggrevate the trigger point and left for up to a minute. This settles the trigger point and eases pain.

Tara is qualified and insured to carry out dry needling on patients, having completing a course in 2013.
